Bree vs Leuven
Another home victory for us. We played the second to last team in the league, coming into the game they were 5 – 20. We started off slow and our coach said that we were playing at their level so we turned the intensity up. We won 93-70, my stat-line for the game : 10 points, 2 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 19 minutes. Even though I didn’t get credit for the block-shot on the official stat-sheet, I know I blocked that shot. The reason I am making a big deal out of this, I have about 30 block-shots in my entire playing career, so hey give my block-shot. I am a guard, with limited hops, I am not D’or Fischer (teammate who leads the league in block-shots, rebounds, and dunks), so when I do get one, I want it to count, just to show that I actually block shots ! I wasn’t the only one who didn’t get credit for something I did, my teammate Tom van Camp (TVC) went 4 for 4 from the free-throw line but the stat-sheet said he was 2 for 2 and they gave the other 2 free-throws to another player who didn’t attempt a free-throw. Now that’s unselfish basketball, lol. The easiest thing to keep track of in a basketball game is free-throws, there is only one guy who shoots it at a time. Their number and name is on the back of their jersey, the announcer says who is shooting the free-throws, how complicated is that ? Now I don’t feel cheated about not having my block shot.
