THE JUNIORS WIN GROUP A
Last Saturday the team I coach (the juniors, 21 and under) won group A. How its setup in youth basketball here is that before Christmas teams are put into groups based on geographic locations, and each team plays home and away vs every team in that group. The first place winners from each group go into a group together and the all the second place teams in the same group etc. This is a very big deal for us because it’s the first we have finished first in a group before Christmas. It only gets tougher for us after Christmas we will be playing the best under 21 players in the country..
As for the team I play on we won last Saturday 81-76 but we were playing at home. It was typical us we played well at home, we led the whole game. The strangest part of the game was we had the ball with 18 seconds to go and only up 5 points and the coach from the other team told his guys to quit and not play defense. It was the weirdest and dumbest thing EVER a 5 point game with 18 seconds and to stop playing is not good basketball and sends the wrong message to your team. As a player you NEVER EVER quit during a game you never know what will/can happen just ask Reggie Miller he scored 8 points in 6 seconds vs the knicks in a playoff game. I finished with 20 points and 5 rebounds.
